Launch of USD100,000 Climate Action Project in Chorkor

Prudential Life Insurance Ghana, a leading insurance provider, has launched a USD100,000 Climate Action project to address serious environmental challenges in Chorkor, a coastal community in Accra, Ghana.The project, christened the PRU Climate Action Initiative, is funded under the Climate & Health Resilience Fund (CHRF) established by the Prudence Foundation, the community investment arm of Prudential plc in Asia and Africa. The foundation assists these markets in adapting to the impacts of climate change on health.The PRU Climate Action Initiative, implemented by United Way Ghana, aims to address severe health, environmental, and climate-related threats such as coastal erosion, flooding, cholera, poor drainage, waste management systems, and pollution. Targeted interventions like environmental education, tree planting by school clubs, and waste management initiatives will also be implemented to promote long-term climate resilience.Speaking at the Chemuena South 4 Cluster of Schools during the launch, the CEO of Prudential Life Insurance Ghana, Mrs. Jane Dornukuor Mingle, emphasized that the project, expected to impact about 24,000 people (80 percent of the population in Chorkor), is dear to the company’s heart because it aligns with their purpose: For Every Life, For Every Future.

PruRide 2024 - Accra's FunRide: A Fun-Filled Journey to Accra Sports StadiumOn a bright and sunny day, hundreds of riders gathered at the starting point, eager to embark on a thrilling adventure - PruRide 2024! The excitement was palpable as cyclists of all ages and skill levels prepared to pedal their way to the iconic Accra Sports Stadium.As the riders set off, the atmosphere was electric. The sound of laughter, chatter, and ringing bells filled the air, creating an infectious energy that spread throughout the pack. With each pedal stroke, the sense of camaraderie grew, as strangers became friends united by a shared passion for cycling.As the riders made their way through the scenic route, the Accra Sports Stadium loomed in the distance, beckoning them towards the finish line. With every kilometer completed, the anticipation built, and the smiles grew wider.Finally, the moment of triumph arrived as the riders crossed the finish line, beaming with pride and a sense of accomplishment. The Accra Sports Stadium was abuzz with excitement, as participants celebrated their achievement with cheers, hugs, and high-fives.

Driving sustainability, one Electric vehicle at a time

Prudential Life Insurance Ghana has taken a significant step towards reducing its carbon footprint with the launch of its "E-V Transition Program". This initiative is part of the company's broader commitment to sustainability and its goal of achieving operational carbon neutrality by 2030.The project was launched during the 2024 End of Year Gala and Awards Ceremony, held at Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel, Accra on 4th January 2025. It was part of activities commemorating the company’s 10th anniversary in Ghana.The program involves transitioning the company's fleet from internal combustion engine vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs). This move is expected to significantly reduce the company's carbon emissions, contributing to a better future for all.During the Launch, Madam Efua Preba Arkaah-Greenstreet, a board member of Prudential Life Insurance Ghana complained that the impact of climate change is staggering and requires urgent action from everyone. UNICEF reported in 2021 that air pollution from fossil fuels is responsible for an estimated 8.1 million premature deaths globally. She therefore commended Prudential Life Ghana for taking such a bold step to protect the environment.

Reducing Plastic Waster, One Desk at a time

In a bold move to tackle two of Ghana’s most pressing challenges – plastic pollution and inadequate education infrastructure – Prudential Life Insurance Ghana in partnership with Academy City University College have joined forces to launch a groundbreaking initiative.The innovative project transforms recycled plastic waste into school desks, providing a sustainable solution for underserved schools in the country.On November 6, 2024, the two organizations sealed their commitment with a memorandum of understanding and a GHS 70,000 cheque presentation at Prudential Life Insurance Ghana’s head office.This marked the beginning of a remarkable journey to create positive change.Jane Mingle, the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Prudential Life Insurance Ghana expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. She said, “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Academic City, where science meets practice. Together, we’ll drive sustainability and create lasting impact.”By transforming plastic waste into schools to facilitate knowledge sharing, Prudential Insurance Ghana and Academic City University College are paving the way for a brighter, more sustainable future for Ghana’s next generation. She was optimistic that the project will drive impact that is worthy of replication and expansion.

Green Ghana Day 2024

Prudential Life Insurance Ghana, Strategic Youth Network for Development Ghana , and The Forestry Commission joined forces to plant 2000 mangrove seedlings at Ada Foah Obane, supporting the national Green Ghana initiative.Our Chief Financial Officer, Adam Burge, reiterated the fact that the initiative was aligned with our purpose, “which is to be partners of every life and protectors of every future.” Why is this important? Ghana's mangrove forests are dwindling due to urbanization, overexploitation, pollution, wildfires, and climate change, threatening the livelihoods of communities like Obane. By protecting these wetlands, we are supporting the fishing industry, the local economy, and the safe environment for this current and future generations.We are grateful for the expertise of the Forestry Commission and involvement of the Obane community, who have promised to take good care of the seedlings. We call on other organizations to join us in this initiative.Together, let's restore Ghana's wetlands and build a safer future for all!
