Job Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Innovation and Strategy Officer, the role holder will lead all efforts at gaining insight into the market, competitors, and internal data sources towards continuously enhancing Prudential’s value propositions. The role holder combines strong analytical rigor with business acumen to serve as the bridge between data and strategic decision making. The position requires keen analytical and strategic competencies to translate large data sets into actionable insights to inform business strategy and drive organizational performance.
Main Responsibilities:
Research
- Design and implement effective research methodologies to gather and analyse data.
- Conduct innovative market surveys about products, services, brand image, etc, to provide critical insights and strategic recommendations to improve Prudential’s value proposition.
- Analyse market trends and dynamic consumer behaviour in various market conditions to predict future business needs and identify the major drivers that will position Prudential as a forward-looking company.
- Profile competitors, competitor offerings, their customer models, and competitive business environment, including their market share, growth projections, trends, market forces, among others.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research and provide data analysis support for business planning.
- Proactively scan the business environment to identify areas of competitive opportunity and risk, including staying up to date on all market issues and emerging trends.
Business Analysis & Reporting
- Deep dive into complex and raw datasets across the business to uncover actionable insights and support data driven decision making by the various departments.
- Be abreast with key sources of business knowledge/data, evaluate their credibility and relevance, and transform them into reports to support business cases, proposed projects, and business plans.
- Create intuitive, stakeholder-friendly dashboards and reports to monitor progress and facilitate informed decision making.
- Adhere to data privacy laws and internal policies, ensuring that all data handling respects security and confidentiality requirements.
- Ensure that data usage aligns with Prudential’s principles and international standards.
- Measure the outcome of business strategies that have been implemented and generate reports for management meetings.
- Strategic contributor to the company annual plan process through using data and insights to steer the company to formulate accurate plans and forecasts to achieve desired expectations.
- Analyse past operational results and perform variance analysis to uncover the root causes.
Relationship building
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, Agency, product development, operations and finance to identify emerging needs and business challenges and deliver specific ad-hoc requests from various stakeholders.
- Keep a good relationship with external business research and analytics stakeholders including regulators and industry players to be able to leverage their data, reports, and information sources.
- Develop in-house competencies in data analysis and reporting.
Key Functional Skills:
- Must be highly motivated, possess an entrepreneurial spirit and service mindset.
- Must have a great understanding of insurance workflows and insurance business acumen.
- Ability to work on multiple projects and deliver milestone in a timely manner.
- Ability to use statistical, economic, and data modelling techniques and tools.
- Ability to articulate and communicate complex data in a clear and actionable manner.
- High level of competence with Microsoft Office suite (specifically, advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills) is a pre-requisite.
- Strong customer focus and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadline constraints.
- Highly proficient in the use of BI tools/Data Technologies such as Tableau, Reporting Services, SQL, R, Python for Data Science, and being able to write complex queries.
Qualification: University degree in Business, Economics, Data Science, or other quantitative programs with adequate Business Courses; master’s degree in business is a plus.
Experience: 10+ years relevant post National Service working experience in Financial Services/Management Consulting/Insurance with in-depth experience in Business Analysis & Planning.
